On the Rights of the Child of 20.11.1989 (entered into force for CH: 26.3.1997)

The European Convention of 20 May 1980 on the Recognition and Enforcement of Decisions concerning Custody of Children and on Restoration of Custody of Children and the Hague Convention of 25 October 1980 on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction correspond particularly to the requirements of Article 11 of the above-mentioned UN Convention.

This provision stipulates:

  • States parties shall take measures to combat the unlawful removal of children abroad and their unlawful non-return

  • To this end, States Parties shall encourage the conclusion of bilateral or multilateral agreements or accession to existing agreements
